06Dec What is Creative Commons Creative Commons is an American non-profit organization founded by Lawrence Lessig, Hal Abelson, and Eric Eldred in 2001. The aim is to make sharing of work systematically so they have created Creative Commons licenses. So they issued some copyright-licenses acknowledged as Creative Commons licenses to the public for free. It simplifies the use of content licensed with one of those licenses from Creative Commons. You can understand it with this example if want people to use your copyright work, you can share it in a public domain. keep in mind that the work entered in the public domain cant'be reclaim it. You can add a license which explains limitations of using it such as only for NON-Commercial use or reuse and share content. There are seven different types of Creative Commons or CC licenses: CC0: The CC0 license means anyone can use the content for any purpose they want. If you want to share your work to allow people to use for their different types of need then you can apply CC0 license to work or content produced by you. CC BY (CC Attribution): This license is used to allow people to make use of your work with a limitation. According to this license, you can use, distribute, and transform a work till you give credit to its real creator. CC BY-SA (CC Attribution-ShareAlike): The CC BY-SA license allows you to use, modify and share a work by giving credit to the original creator and share a copy on which changes have been made. CC BY-ND (CC Attribution-NoDerivatives): The CC BY-ND licensed work can be used and shared as long as you give credit to the original author but with a limitation to now doing modifications to it. CC BY-NC (CC Attribution-NonCommercial): The CC BY-NC licensed work can be used and shared as long as you give credit to the original author creator, but you can't sell that work or it's modified copy. CC BY-NC-SA: Under this license, you can use, share and modify a work by giving credit to the original creator and also admit to not sell that work or any modified version of the work. You also must not share your altered work with the same license. CC BY-NC-ND: The CC BY-NC-ND license allows you to use, modify and share a work by giving credit to the original creator but you can't make changes in the original work and also agree not to You also must accept to not sell that work.
